Thank you Dr. Rashmi for contacting us. Is the pain at the vaccine injection site? The vaccination is intramuscular and far from our deep venous structures. DVT would be highly unlikely; also upper extremity DVT is rare in absence of any intravenous intervention or history of clotting disorder. Also, in absence of swelling of arm or redness of arm, DVT is not likely.Local cellulitis or an abscess formation is a possibility but in absence of redness and fever, it is not likely. I think it is just a local reaction to an injection. You can try Paracetamol or Ibuprofen 2-3 times a day; and application of ice bag at the site would help with pain as well. Please contact us again if the concern persists. Thank you.
Thank you so much Dr. Jha.
Have advised the same to the patient. The pain and swelling has improved with paracetamol.
Thanks again.
